The Texas Hill Country offer a wide range of activities for the holiday season and Texas Hill Country Reservations has the perfect place to stay during your visit. From intimate cabins with wood burning stoves and relaxing hot tubs to luxurious historic log cabins you’re sure to find the perfect home for your holiday fun!
While in Wimberley enjoy casual shopping around Wimberley Square then relax with a warm cup of cocoa at any of several restaurants. Or opt for a more energetic shopping experience at The Premium Outlets in nearby San Marcos.
After dinner take the kids (or kids-at-heart) to the Trail of Lights at Emily Ann Theater. Now in it’s 16th year the Trail of Lights features more than 100 exhibits, and offers live entertainment almost every night and a roaring Yule Log (where you can roast a marshmallow). New this year is “A Monster Carol” performed in the Burdine Johnson Studio Theatre: a goofy, fun, touching story of Franklin, Veronica and Wolfgang as they learn the true meaning of Christmas and friendship – based on Charles Dickens holiday favorite.
But Wimberley is not the only spot for holiday fun. Stroll through the light trail at Bindseil Park in nearby Blanco, experience a Cowboy Christmas at Enchanted Springs Ranch in Boerne, step back to 1849 at Ft. Croghan and experience the Fort’s first Christmas, and Main Street in Fredericksburg is a shopper’s paradise with more than 150 specialty shops. Take in a performance of Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol” in Kerrville, walk amid the 2 MILLION lights reflecting on the sparkling waters of beautiful Lake Marble Falls, or horseback caroling down Main Street at the annual Christmas Singing in the Saddle in the Cowboy Capital of the World, Bandera.
Of course the Hill Country offers year-round activities. Foodies and gastrophiles can enjoy a leisurely tour of more than 35 wineries, taste top quality olive oils and balsamic vinegars at Texas Hill Country Olive Oil, or dine at Nao Restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America campus in nearby San Antonio. For the more adventurous traveler speed through the trees at Wimberly Zip Line, hike the ever-changing landscape at Pedernales Falls, or explore beautiful Hamilton Pool where the more adventurous can take a dip in the 48 degree water!
